Something Sweet for Dissatisfaction

Something Sweet for Dissatisfaction Let me first start off by saying “Happy Leap Day”! Earlier tonight I was so antsy. Hubbylove has been struggling with fatigue and I really wanted to go out and have a good time. So, he slept and I pouted. Finally, later in the evening I called my mom. “Hey Mom, whatcha doin’?” As she told me her plans for the night I continued to feel the itch of needing to go out. “I’m gonna loose my mind if I don’t get some fresh air”, I thought. So around 9pm I woke up my sleeping beast and told him that I was going out. Too little too late. I arrived a Peebles just as they were closing and the same thing happened at a couple of other places that I ventured out in the cold to go. Then it hit me. “I think I want something sweet”. Hours earlier I had done one of those “get to know me better” surveys. One of the questions was “what are four of your favorite foods” I have to admit that vegetables was not one of the four. However, the ever yummy Chocolate Mudd Cake was on the list. So after my fun night out on the town (which led me to Giant, a local grocery store) with a gallon of milk and two loaves of bread, I went home…and started baking. It was so warm in the house. I had a fire in the fireplace and one of my favorite treats in the bowl before me, my little bug was sleeping, and my hubbylove was up giving me some much needed conversation. Finally, that first bite of something sweet led my dissatisfaction to a cleft in the deepest ocean. Chocolate. What can I say? I’m a sucker every time. Don’t worry this isn’t a message on how chocolate is a sin. Quite the contrary. Have you ever heard of the phrase “You can always attract a bee with honey”? It’s true! I tell my hubbylove all the time, “You can never go wrong being kind to someone”. In the adventures of my new job, I knew right off the bat that I was going to have to win over the trust and smiles of the certified nursing assistants that I was in charge of. So as soon as I got there, I was asking each of the girls what they like. After the survey I told the girls that if they answered all of the “call lights” in their hall without me having to remind them all of the time, I would buy pizza for everyone. Boy did that work. Every 15 minutes or so, I was reminded by my aides of how speedy they were doing their work. So $22 and two medium pizzas later, their hard work paid off. They were happy, I was happy, and the residents were happy. Being sweet to someone will always pay off…for everyone. When I’m in a bad mood and decide to get someone something little, I’m in a much better mood! Likewise, when you do something sweet for someone else it makes ‘em feel like a million bucks!! God gave “undeserved kindness” when he saved us from our own sin. Look at Romans 3:23 & 24: For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. WOW! It seems to me just how powerful kindness really is! Girls, kindness is such a powerful tool to own. Let’s be sure to use it more frequently than our other favorite tool, the “hammer over the head”. Have a blessed week and I’ll write you again next week! Love, Dede

I've been enjoying popping in for a visit. Hope you have been enjoying the new job...and the kindness. It is so awesome how we reap that which we sow, as well. I love it when little things come back. What a warm fuzzy we can get. God has blessed me mightily this week with these sweet things..
let us never weary of doing good, for in due time we will reap a harvest...

Bless you Dede, for your heart and for all the good you do ~
