What If?

A Piece Of Chocolate! 5-6-08 Dear Chocolate Truffles, I know that it's not Friday so this piece of chocolate comes early. But I just couldn't wait to send it. I’m sure that we all go through our lives at some point surveying some of our greatest and tumultuous times. I am also sure that you and I can see that the decisions that we had to make that brought us to that height of heights or to the lowest of lows impacted our character, leading us to who we have become today. There are so many stories in the Bible telling of people who made some serious decisions that impacted their own character but also the lives of people today. So, what if? What if Jonah wasn’t swallowed by the great fish? Would we have learned the lesson on obedience? What if King David didn’t have an affair and plot to kill the woman’s husband? Would we have learned that God is merciful and offers forgiveness to us no matter what? Life is full of “what if’s” What if I never get married. Ok, if you never get married would be able to understand to the fullest extent that the Lord is your husband first? What if I have children and never wanted them. Do you think that maybe in due time you would be able to understand that the Lord wants you to get to know him and love him like a father so that you will grow and mature to love your kids in the same way? It’s ok. You don’t have to feel guilty for any reason. Guilt is never the answer. But Jesus is. His testimony and life answers all of life’s what if’s. He was single with no kids, yet the Savior of the world. He was pursued constantly by sin and still overcame it. He really is the answer to all of life’s what ifs! Here’s a hypothetical conversation with Jesus: Me: Jesus, what if I fall? Jesus: Then I will pick you up Me: What if I fail you? Jesus: It’s alright, I will never fail you. Me: I struggle with so many things that I know are wrong to do. Jesus: I will never leave you or forsake you Me: Will you ever forgive me? Jesus: I already have…now forgive yourself. Me: will you ever want to use me for Your kingdom? Jesus: Even now I am using you. Me: Jesus, I have an opportunity to accept a job promotion should I accept it? Jesus: I have given you many talents to use, not to hide. Just don’t let it interfere with our time together. See ladies, he meets us right where we’re at no matter where our location in life is. Be encouraged today. Put on your garment of praise because it is the antidote for mourning. Praise is also the antidote for doubt. So, when you’re in the land of “What If’s” just dedicate your land to the Lord. Love, Dede

Thanks, Dede, for keeping it real ~ I, too, have shared many of those types of questions with Jesus, and His answers to me are similar. Such a blessing to know we are His because He loves us and we accept that grace-filled love. No other reason ~ thank God He isn't about performance or perfection on earth, but relationship. How freeing that is! Amen?
We love you!!!
