Harvest Time
To My Dearest Chocolate Chillers,
Hello, Hello, Hello!! I have missed you all tremendously during this past month. You know when you have something to do that you really love to do, and yet you put it off for whatever reason? Well, that’s what has been going on with me. Gosh, there is never a good time to practice procrastination. So what does this have to do with “harvest time”? Everything! You and I both know that for a harvest to come, seeds have to be sown. Well, recently I learned that there are good kinds of harvest and bad kinds of harvest. See, good seed planted in rich soil will result in a bountiful harvest that will bless many. However, bad seed in good soil will also reap a harvest that will harm many. Allow me to set the stage. Hosea 10:1-15. Now the Israelites had been sowing some tremendously bad seed. They had been building many pagan alters to worship, they had been arrogant, and making covenants that they never intended to keep. The Word says, “So injustice springs up among them like poisonous weeds in a farmer’s field”. See at one time the Israelites had been told to, “ Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.” Unfortunately, they disregarded what the Lord had said and as a result the Bible says, “But you have cultivated wickedness and harvested a thriving crop of sins.”
On the opposite side of the pendulum, we can also understand that when we sow good seed into fertile ground, we reap a God-blessed harvest. Let’s take a peek at Psalm 126:5-6: “Those who sow with tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, BUT they sing as they return with the harvest”. See girls, sometimes the seed that the Lord has called us to sow is a seed of sacrifice, faith, righteous living, weeping, joy, or praise. What kind of seed have you sown? In my own life, I have sown some pretty stupid seed and it resulted in pretty stupid returns. However, there have been a few occasions where good seed had been planted, (all because of the Lord), where the harvest not only blessed my life but the lives of many others. So if you want to know what kind of seed you’re sowing look at the last year of your life. Odds are, if you made a deliberate choice, you are living out the harvest now for the choice you made. I want to live a life where I know that good seed was sown in good soil. I know that I’m not alone when I say that. Be edified my sisters, if your harvest is great then share with those who need it. If your harvest is not pleasant go to the Lord, ask for His forgiveness, and ask Him to show you opportunities where you can start sowing great and God-blessed seed. Remember, “there is therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus and to those who are called according to his purpose.”
Have a fantastic week and I’ll be in touch next week.
Love,
Dede
