Mistaken Identity
Hola Chocolate Chicas!
Boy do I have a lot to say! This past weekend was a doozy! I joined roughly 65 other amazing ladies for a weekend retreat that was filled with a lot of laughs and tears. The Lord ministered to me in such a personal way but I‘ll save that talk for another Friday. As for today- I have GOT to share something that happened this weekend with all of you.
Now what do you get when you mix 65 women in one room…………with their pajamas on? A BLAST!!!! It’s true. At the retreat on the first night we had a pajama party/contest. It was so much fun! Jammy themes from cow tippin’ to tourism and school spirit to mother moose. I’m not kidding- there was such an array of creativity!
My pajama costume was no exception. The theme I was trying to go for was “Bedtime in Beverly Hills”. I wore a satin robe that had pink feathers sown into place by my mama around the bottom as well as around the sleeves. She also put some of these feathers on my heels to match. I had a wine glass in hand, makeup on my face, and some large earings and a necklace. I even spoke in a completely fabricated “Beverly Hills” voice. Whatever that sounds like. Oh yeah, I even wore a tiara and said that I was the heir to the throne of Tidy Bowl.
Unfortunately, I was NOT dubbed the name of “Bedtime in Beverly Hills”. Instead, I was called Rahab. Now, for those of you who may not know, Rahab was a “woman of the night”. Yep. How could I go from bedtime in Beverely Hills to Rahab within 5 minutes? I suppose these days those two things have quite a bit in common.
Here’s where the rubber meets the road. Are you and I living under mistaken identities? Am I living a life that is worthy to be called a Christian? Does everyone around me see the Light of Life or do people see me live a life of a defeated Christian suffering from doom and gloom? The Bible says in Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Now think about it. Why would we want a part of the world’s identity anyway? They’ve got depression, sickness, division, murder, debt, cheating, affairs, and all kinds of destruction in this world. I don’t want any part of that junk!
Here’s the truth. The Lord longs for true fellowship with each of us. When you are in relationship with Him, people who don’t know Him will be attracted to Him in You! Does that make sense? The world is searching for the truth and we’ve got it!! Let’s make sure that we are living in such a way that our identities are NOT mistaken for anything other than daughters of the Most High. AMEN!
Have a fun week!
Love,
Dede
