I'm responsible for my own walk? HUH?

Hello Family! Well, let's dig in! (Amplified) I Peter 1:13-16 & 22 13So brace up your minds; be sober (circumspect, morally alert); set your hope wholly and unchangeably on the grace (divine favor) that is coming to you when Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is revealed. 14[Live] as children of obedience [to God]; do not conform yourselves to the evil desires [that governed you] in your former ignorance [when you did not know the requirements of the Gospel]. 15But as the One Who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your conduct and manner of living. 16For it is written, You shall be holy, for I am holy. 22Since by your obedience to the Truth through the [Holy ] Spirit you have purified your hearts for the sincere affection of the brethren, [see that you] love one another fervently from a pure heart. WAIT A SECOND! WHAT? I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR LIVING A REDEEMED LIFE? IT'S NOT ALL UP TO GOD? No Sugar Lips, it's not all up to God! We all (Christians) agree that we were sinners, blah, blah, blah, and so on... But unfortunately because of the watered down theology and spineless ministers to avoid "hot topics", people believe that getting "saved" is the end of their walk. NO! I know of many "saints" that really love the Lord but because they stopped their own walk after day one, Jesus is still having to carry them because being carried is all that is familiar! Jesus is not coming back for his baby girl! He is coming back for a BRIDE!. Even a bride understands that the wedding is only day 1 of a marriage relationship. Why would your walk with Jesus be any different? VS 13So brace up your minds; be sober (circumspect, morally alert); set your hope wholly and unchangeably on the grace (divine favor) that is coming to you when Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is revealed. Don't think whatever you want! Are you crazy? That is a recipe for danger! Also, the grace is coming to YOU because once you know who He really is, you'll understand that you need the grace to become more like him due to your inadequacy. Jesus already knows who he is. He doesn't need to be revealed to himself! That means you and I have work to do! Living holy is HARD; but we weren't given an invitation to be holy, we were told to be holy. Listen, I'm going to make this very easy to understand. Say what the Father Says and Do what the Father Does. Nothing more and nothing less. How do you do that? Memorize scripture! Don't just read it. Reading is the MINIMUM! MEMORIZE it, let it become who you are not just a Part of who you are. If you say what He is saying, that means that you are hearing Him speak! Imagine that; especially since the Bible says, "My sheep know my voice". If you Do what the Father does then as awkward as you will feel, He will be able to use you. It takes practice silencing the flesh...I know! That's why this is called a walk and not a sprint. The walk that the Lord has in mind for you is not a cardiovascular walk for 30 minutes! Don't do what you want to do; do what He wants you to do. Will you NOT like it? Sure. Will you get over yourself? YES! Lastly, vs 22 "Since by your obedience to the Truth through the [Holy ] Spirit you have purified your hearts for the sincere affection of the brethren, [see that you] love one another fervently from a pure heart." Did you see that part; the part where it says that YOU have purified YOUR hearts for the sincere affection of the brethren? WHOA. You got it! You and I are responsible for learning how to live with PURE hearts regarding others with affection! This goes way beyond the message that pastors are saying, "The Bible says that you must love your enemies but it doesn't mean that you have to like 'em" WRONG! YOU MUST HAVE A PURE HEART WITH THE BRETHREN! Now do you see why you and I need grace? It's not so that we can be received back into the fold for repetitive sin; it's given so that we won't leave the fold to begin with! Come on family, let's get this right. Right Now! Love you all! Dede
